Donut day (day 10)

Christy and I set out with Mark, who is what we would consider a real cyclist.  It was his idea to stoop to our level and ride with us today.  Singing, joking, whining and frequent stops - we warned him of what we are like, but he still came with!

The day was mostly downhill, as we lost about 1000 feet in elevation.
Check out this graph:

We left camp at 6:30 and arrived at 12:30.  For those six hours we averaged 29km/hr and had a total riding time of 4h24min.  That is to say that we were clipping, but we also stopped for a long break or two.  It is fun to ride fast!  The other fun little game we played for the first hour, since we were clipping, was to count how many of our fellow cyclists we could pass.  In the first hour and a half we passed 26 cyclists... Most of whom passed us again when we stopped for our morning coffee/tea at 8 am.

Christy loves donuts and is on the quest for the perfect one.  Upon arriving in St. John we found a magical little shop that served both ice cream AND donuts.  In one place.  As we ordered our ice cream and chatted up the shop owner, we learned about the state, about this little town, and of course were able to share about the Sea to Sea with her. She said, "oh, I passed the whole lot of ya going from Payson to Heber yesterday." It's neat to be recognized and to see that we are getting people's attention.  Low and behold, she came out of the back of the shop with this:

"Donuts all around, on the house." Because we worked hard today.
